A print-ready file is a file that meets all the specifications necessary to achieve the highest quality print output. This type of file is a vector file prepared to go directly into the printing process without needing further modifications. Here are some key characteristics and considerations for creating a print-ready file:
Correct Format: Commonly, print-ready files are saved in vector formats like AI, EPS, SVG or PDF. These formats are preferred because they can encapsulate all the necessary information (fonts, images, layout, etc.) in a single file that can be easily handled by printing software.
TIP: If your file contains a specific font, please include it or convert it to outlines. Read this article for more tips and logo best practices.
High Resolution: Graphics within the file should be high resolution, typically 300 dpi (dots per inch) or higher, to ensure clarity and sharpness in the printed output. Lower resolutions can result in blurry or pixelated prints. Vector graphics are infinitely scalable, so resolution shouldn’t be a problem if your file is correct.
Proper Color Mode: Files should be in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key/Black) color mode, not RGB (Red, Green, Blue), which is used for digital screens. CMYK is the color mode used by printers to produce a full spectrum of colors.
Solid Colors Only: In order to print the highest quality possible on tiny surfaces common within beauty products, we only accept logos with solid colors, meaning no images nor gradients.
