How do customs and duties work with Blanka?

Learn more about customs and duties

Updated yesterday

Blanka's listed prices do not include any applicable taxes, customs fees, brokerage fees, or duties.

Key Points

  • Destination-based fees: Duties and taxes are calculated based on the destination country of the package.

    • Smaller orders to Canada or the US often incur no additional taxes.

    • EU shipments may be subject to VAT.

    • Products originating from other countries, such as China, may have applicable tariffs.

  • Regulatory changes: Customs fees and tariffs are regulated by each country and may change over time. Blanka does not control these charges.

Merchant Recommendations

  • We recommend informing your end-customers that customs duties or tariffs may apply, and that they are responsible for paying them.

  • Consider including this information in your store policies or checkout process to avoid surprises.

What Happens if Customs Fees Are Refused?

  • If a package is refused due to unpaid customs duties or tariffs, local customs may:

    • Return it to the sender

    • Abandon it

    • Destroy it, depending on local regulations

  • Typically, refused packages are sent back to Blanka’s warehouse. We may explore options to reship the order, but Blanka is not obligated to refund any orders refused due to unpaid customs or tariffs. These charges are imposed by the receiving country and are the sole responsibility of the importer or recipient.

We encourage our merchants to communicate these potential charges to their end-customers clearly and in advance to ensure smooth delivery and customer satisfaction.
