What happens if a product causes harm to a customer?

Learn more about Blanka product safety

Updated yesterday

At Blanka, product safety is our top priority — and we’re proud to say that through the years we've been operating, this has never been an issue.

That said, it’s important to understand how liability works in the beauty industry in the unlikely event that something does happen.

Who is responsible if a product causes harm?

If a product ever caused harm to an end customer, the responsibility would generally be shared across the entire supply chain — including the manufacturer, the brand owner (you), and any other parties involved in the production or distribution of the product. This means that each party could hold some degree of liability depending on the circumstances of the issue.

Does Blanka have insurance?

Yes! Blanka carries product liability insurance to help protect against these rare situations. However, because each merchant operates under their own brand, we strongly recommend that all merchants also obtain product liability insurance for their own business. This provides an additional layer of protection and ensures that you’re fully covered in the event that a customer makes a claim against your brand.

What should I do to protect my business?

  • Obtain product liability insurance through your local insurance provider.

  • Make sure your coverage includes cosmetic or skincare products (if applicable).

  • Keep all product information and customer communications on record in case you ever need to reference them.
