How do I setup shipping on Shopify?

Learn how to setup your shipping on Shopify

Updated yesterday

Setting up shipping in Shopify is a key step after creating and publishing your products. Follow these quick steps to do so:

Step 1: Access your Shopify Admin account

Log in to the admin panel in your Shopify account.

Step 2: Go to Shipping Settings

Click on Settings > Shipping and delivery:

Step 3: Review Your Store Address

Ensure your store address is accurate. For Blanka fulfillment, use: Unit 1, 1380 Napier St., Vancouver, BC V5L 2P6, Canada.

Please note: When you connect certain apps, like Blanka, your store’s location may be automatically synced.

Step 4: Activate Your Shipping Markets

You will need to create four shipping markets to match Blanka's flat rate shipping:

  1. North America

  2. UK and France

  3. Rest of EU, Asia, South America and Africa

  4. Oceania

To activate a shipping market go to "Markets" > "Add Market".

Step 5: Name Your Shipping Markets

Name the markets accordingly. For example, 'UK and France'. Click "Add market".

Step 6: Select Shipping Zones & Set Rates

Once activated, select "Shipping" to take you to set up your shipping zones.

You should have your four markets and the regions you ship to identified. Next, add them as four separate shipping zones in Shopify and set the shipping rates according to Blanka’s flat rates (see rates here).

Create shipping zones: Set up shipping zones to allow shipping to different regions, states, and countries.

For example: for 'North America' add in United States and Canada.

The North American flat shipping rate is $8.99, so we add a shipping rate and set up a non-conditional shipping zone to the United States for $8.99.

Continue to do this for the additional markets you want to add. For example, if you want to ship to Australia, activate Oceania as a market with Australia added and then add the rate of $25.99. If you don't specify the rate for a market, your customers won't be able to ship there.

Step 7: Test Shipping Rates

After setting everything up, conduct a test to ensure the rates are calculated correctly at checkout.

Optional:

Of course, you’re not required to use Blanka’s flat rates — you can create your own shipping strategy if you prefer.

Example Shipping Strategies:

  • Offer free shipping: Factor the shipping cost into your product prices, then set the shipping rate to $0 for all zones and label it “Free Shipping.”

  • Match Blanka’s flat rate: Set your shipping rates to align with Blanka’s flat rates, as shown in the examples above.

  • Free shipping based on Average Order Value: For example, offer free shipping on all orders over $100. Make sure you add this to each of your shipping zones!
